Old World Foods For New World Families

Regular price $25.00

A rainbow of old world foods (Armenian, Bulgarian, Croatian, British, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Roumanian, Russian, Scandinavian, Syrian and Lebanese) for new world families (Detroitians) compiled as a result of a program with foreign-born women that begun at the Merrill-Palmer School in 1925.

From the foreword:

"Many of the dishes described in this cookbook have been served in the International Institute by groups of foreign-born women. Through Miss McGuire's enthusiasm, people of many different origins have found common ground in the enjoyment of their traditional foods. Her careful recording helps preserve valuable dietary habits that have been handed down in the folk ways that are now part of the American heritage."
