Madelain Farah was born in Portland, Oregon. When her Lebanese-American family went to Lebanon for a visit in 1936, they found themselves stranded there throughout World War II. As a young girl in Lebanon, Madelain spent hours watching her mother cook.

Later in life, Madelain attended University of Oregon, Portland State University, the American University of Cairo and the University of Tehran. She was a Fulbright scholar, fluent in Arabic, Persian, Spanish, French and Russian. She served on the Board of Directors for the Portland chapter of United Nations.

Madelain also modeled professionally. She was Miss Lebanon-America and Miss Oregon Cherry Blossom Princess.

She also created this collection of "over 200 authentic recipes designed for "the gourmet, the vegetarian and the health food enthusiast."

MADELAIN!!!

 From the introduction:

"The author has attempted this  undertaking partly because until now such a collection of recipes has not been systematically assembled and published, but mainly because she is a descendant of an ancient line of gourmet Phoenician cooks and unblushingly maintains that her mother is the best Arabic cook! This will arouse other "non-biased" daughters, so please choose your culinary weapon...and...en garde!"

Third Edition, 1975, by Madelain Farah. Softcover. Plastic comb binding. 156 pages. Black & white illustrations. Slight discoloration on the back cover, the interior is in excellent condition.
